Owens then moved to San Diego, California where she completed her pediatric residency at the University of California at San Diego and served as chief resident in 2003-2004. from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.ĭr. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas. She subsequently grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and moved to Texas in high school where she attended the Texas Academy of Math and Science at the University of North Texas.
